Seattle Police Carjacking Incident Investigation

SEATTLE — Seattle police are investigating an attempted armed carjacking that occurred early Sunday morning in the BelltownQueen Anne area. The incident, which happened around 3:30 a.m. on the 2200 block of 1st Avenue, involved a legally armed victim who shot two suspects.

According to police reports, the victim, a licensed gun owner, had parked his sports car along 1st Avenue when a white sedan approached with four masked occupants. After a brief exchange, two men armed with guns attempted to steal the car. Fearing for his safety, the victim fired multiple rounds, hitting one of the suspects.

Police arrived on the scene to find one suspect suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. That suspect was detained and received medical aid before being taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he is in serious condition and under armed guard.

The remaining suspects fled the scene in the sedan. However, another suspect was later dropped off at Harborview Medical Center, also suffering from a gunshot wound. This suspect is currently in serious condition as well, under armed guard.

Robbery detectives and officers have processed the scene, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. The victim was taken to Seattle Police Headquarters for questioning but has since been released.

As the investigation remains open, the Robbery Unit is leading the case. Police continue to seek out additional information regarding the fleeing suspects.
