Kevin James Alan Ritchson Playdate Film

LOS ANGELES, CA — What happens when a casual playdate for your kids gets interrupted by hitmen? This is the premise of the new action-comedy film, “Playdate,” set to release worldwide on November 12. Directed by Luke Greenfield, the movie stars Kevin James as Brian, an unemployed accountant, and Alan Ritchson as Jeff, a charismatic stay-at-home dad.

The story begins when Brian, seeking to connect with his stepson, agrees to arrange a playdate with Jeff and their sons. However, their seemingly innocent afternoon quickly spirals into chaos as mercenaries target them for reasons unknown.

Ritchson’s character turns out to have a hidden agenda, adding layers of suspense and humor to the film. “When Brian realizes that Jeff’s past comes loaded with mercenaries, mayhem, and a whole lot of baggage, the laid-back get-together transforms into a high-stakes adventure,” said Greenfield.

The film features a supporting cast that includes Isla Fisher, Sarah Chalke, Alan Tudyk, and Stephen Root, all contributing to the movie’s comedic elements.

The runtime is approximately 93 minutes, making it a quick watch. Viewers can catch “Playdate” on Prime Video starting Wednesday. Ritchson, known for his role in “Reacher,” expressed excitement about showcasing his comedic side with James, saying, “It’s a surprise mix of heart and action that balances well with our performances.” He praised the script for its surprising depth amidst the chaos.

“Playdate” is expected to appeal to audiences looking for a mix of comedy and thrills, making it one of the must-see releases this November.
