Livingston, Louisiana — John Wesley Collins, a beloved family man and skilled worker, passed away at the age of 52, leaving behind countless memories and stories. Collins, born on June 28, 1973, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduated from Doyle High School and built a career as a pipe fitter, iron worker, and welder.

Known for his strong work ethic, Collins took pride in crafting with his hands. Outside of work, he enjoyed music, fishing, hunting, gaming, leather work, and caring for his chickens and garden. These activities brought him joy and peace, reflecting his character as a hands-on man.

John was married to Jodie L. Collins for 33 years, and together, they raised two children: Jacob Wesley Dewayne Collins and Sarah Elizabeth Collins. He was a devoted “Pawpaw” to his granddaughter, Zayla Collins, eagerly anticipating the arrival of another granddaughter.

He is survived by his father, George Wesley Collins (Terrie Collins), and siblings Elizabeth “Nikki” Collins, Laura Johnson, Molly Collins, Johnny Currence, Jimmy Currence, and Seth Collins. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who cherished him.

Collins was preceded in death by his mother, Claudette Smiley, and several family members including Lucille Collins, Marsen Collins, Vera Smiley, and Winson Smiley.

His pallbearers include family members Jacob Collins, Justin Lewis, Seth Collins, Colton Lewis, Hunter Lewis, Jimmy Collins, Isaiah Fields, and Jason Cross, with Wesley Collins, Daniel Stewart, and Todd Stafford serving as honorary pallbearers.

The family expressed gratitude to Kelly Crothers, Janna Arledge, and Jimmy Collins for their support during this difficult time.

A visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Livingston on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at noon. Burial will take place at Stafford Cemetery #1.

John Wesley Collins will be remembered for his dedication to family, his love for life, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. His presence will be deeply missed.
