Beloved actor John Clegg has sadly passed away at the age of 90. He was best known for his role as La Di Da Gunner Graham in the classic British sitcom It Ain’t Half Hot Mum.

John died peacefully while in care, and his family has announced that a private funeral will take place on August 29 in West Sussex. Friends from the theatre and his family will surely miss him.

Tributes have been pouring in for John, with Morris Bright, a Bafta member, expressing his condolences on social media. He reflected on how much joy Clegg brought to audiences over the years.

Clegg’s career spanned decades, featuring roles not only in It Ain’t Half Hot Mum but also in shows like Dad’s Army and Mr. Bean. More recently, viewers might remember him from his appearance in the romantic comedy film Bridget Jones’s Diary.

He was married to fellow actress Mavis Pugh until her passing in 2006. Together, they starred in several shows, including You Rang, M’Lord and Are You Being Served?

In 2017, John shared stories about his acting life during a talk at the Chichester Literary Society, discussing his beginnings at London’s RADA drama school and even his encounter with Dame Judi Dench.

Throughout his life, John won the hearts of many, and his legacy will continue through his impressive body of work in television and theater.
