Actress Niecy Nash-Betts took home the Emmy Award for outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie. She won for her remarkable portrayal of Glenda Cleveland in ‘Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’. The prestigious award was presented to her by Marla Gibbs and Quinta Brunson, and Nash-Betts proudly declared on stage, ‘I’m a winner, baby!’

Nash-Betts graciously thanked the Most High and expressed her gratitude towards Ryan Murphy for recognizing her talent. She also gave a shoutout to her co-star Evan Peters, Netflix, and all the people who voted for her. Additionally, she acknowledged her partner for supporting her through the emotional journey of playing her character. But Nash-Betts didn’t forget to thank herself, affirming her belief in her abilities.

Passionately addressing her acceptance speech to an audience comprised of beautiful people, Nash-Betts dedicated her award to all the Black and brown women whose voices have been silenced and who have faced excessive policing. She specifically mentioned Glenda Cleveland, Sandra Bland, and Breonna Taylor, drawing attention to the injustice they experienced. As an artist, Nash-Betts emphasized her responsibility to speak truth to power and vowed to continue doing so for as long as she lives.

The talented actress, also set to star in the upcoming film ‘Origin‘ releasing on February 9th, conveyed how much winning this award for her portrayal of Glenda Cleveland meant to her. Feeling fully seen and acknowledged by her peers, Nash-Betts expressed her excitement and gratitude towards presenters Marla Gibbs and Quinta Brunson.
