Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 2024: Special Shape Rodeo and Exciting Events
The 2024 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is in full swing, with day seven of the event featuring a highly anticipated Special Shape Rodeo. This unique event, held on Friday, October 11, drew large crowds to the fiesta grounds as participants showcased a variety of creatively shaped hot air balloons, including animals, characters, and other whimsical designs.
The Special Shape Rodeo is a highlight of the fiesta, offering something different from the traditional hot air balloons. The event also coincided with Kids' Day, making it a particularly family-friendly occasion. The balloons took to the skies under favorable weather conditions, marked by the green flag indicating optimal flying conditions.
Aside from the Special Shape Rodeo, the fiesta has been filled with various other activities and competitions. However, the event was not without incident; a hot air balloon clipped a radio tower in the North Valley, causing it to collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which began on October 5, continues to attract visitors from around the world. The event’s rich history, dating back to its humble beginnings in 1972, has evolved into one of the largest and most celebrated balloon festivals globally.
