Donald Trump First 100 Days In Office

Washington, D.C. — As President Donald Trump approaches the 100-day mark of his administration, opinions about his performance are sharply divided among Americans. Supporters of Trump often argue that this time frame is too short to fully evaluate his actions and policies, while others believe significant changes are already evident.

According to a CBS News/YouGov survey conducted from April 23 to 25, 2025, many Americans feel that Trump is making substantial changes to the government and the country. While his loyal base maintains their support, a growing segment of the population expresses concern over his focus on tariffs, rather than on pressing economic issues like inflation and rising prices, which factors into his diminishing approval ratings.

Despite his strong backing from MAGA Republicans, who overwhelmingly praise his approach, many voters identify outside that circle are becoming increasingly critical. Some of those who initially supported Trump express disappointment in his performance on economic matters, with his approval ratings declining particularly among independents, young voters, and Hispanic Americans.

Economically, Trump’s supporters paint a more optimistic picture regarding his policies, insisting that he is fulfilling campaign promises. However, those who disapprove of him argue he is not delivering on his commitments, especially regarding tariffs. Almost two-thirds of respondents who feel worse off financially assert that Trump has not met his obligations.

Additionally, when evaluating Trump’s handling of immigration, while many Americans support his deportation program, there remains significant concern regarding the treatment of legal residents during detainment. Three-quarters of respondents believe it is unacceptable if legal residents are mistakenly detained, and an even larger percentage opposes the deportation of legal residents.

The poll results show a noticeable divide among political parties. Most Democrats report frustration with how their party has responded to Trump, while Republicans are content with his leadership so far. Even among those who did not vote in the last election, initial approval of Trump was relatively high, indicating a complicated relationship with his presidency.

Overall, as Trump marks his first 100 days, public sentiment remains mixed, with significant rifts in perception related to economic changes, immigration policy, and the president’s approach to his expanded powers. A majority of Americans believe he should collaborate more with Congress rather than relying on executive orders to implement his policies.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, how Trump is viewed in the coming weeks will likely depend on continued developments in both the economy and immigration, shaping the narrative around his administration.
