PG&E Power Outage Updates: False Alarm and Ongoing Restoration Efforts
On November 11, 2024, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) addressed a significant false alarm regarding a power outage that initially appeared to affect approximately 77,000 customers. The outage map had indicated a massive power disruption, but PG&E later confirmed that this was an error and not an actual outage.
In a separate incident, a power outage did occur in the West Pittsburg area on Sunday, November 10. This outage affected 5,669 customers in areas including Shore Acres, Ambrose, and other nearby neighborhoods. The outage was reported by PG&E and is part of the ongoing monitoring and restoration efforts by the utility company.
Additionally, PG&E has been working to restore power to Peninsula neighborhoods that have been without electricity for several days. A stretch of Highway 101 in Menlo Park, which was closed due to the power outage, has reopened as restoration efforts continue.
The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) continues to track power outage incidents across the state, updating the information every 15 minutes. This real-time tracking helps in coordinating response and restoration efforts.
