The Who Farewell Tour 2025

LONDON, England — British rock band The Who are set to say their final goodbye to North America this summer. Singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend confirmed Thursday that they will perform hits from their six-decade career during “The Song Is Over North America Farewell Tour,” named after the band’s 1971 hit.

The band, which rose to prominence in the 1970s as one of the world’s biggest touring acts, will kick off their tour in Florida on August 16. Additional performances are scheduled in cities like New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Vancouver, concluding in Las Vegas on September 28.

“Every musician’s dream in the early ’60s was to make it big in the U.S. charts,” Daltrey said. “For The Who, that dream came true in 1967 and our lives were changed forever.” The band transitioned from small club shows to headlining iconic events like Woodstock.

After being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, Daltrey, 81, and Townshend, who is two years younger, have remained as one of rock’s most enduring duos. They have continued their legacy despite the tragic losses of band members Keith Moon in 1978 and John Entwistle in 2002.

“Today, Roger and I still carry the banner for the late Keith Moon and John Entwistle, and, of course, all of our long-time Who fans,” Townshend said. “Though the road has not always been enjoyable for me, it is usually easy: the best job I could ever have had. I keep coming back.” Together, they crafted legendary tracks, including “My Generation” and “Baba O’Riley.”

Ticket pre-sales for the farewell tour will start on May 13, with general sales commencing May 16. “Well, all good things must come to an end. It is a poignant time,” Townshend added. “Playing to American and Canadian audiences has always been incredible.”

Daltrey mentioned that a throat specialist advised him to rest after every performance, revealing no current plans for a farewell tour in the U.K. “Let’s see if we survive this one,” Daltrey said. “I don’t want to say that there won’t be a U.K. farewell tour, but I’m not optimistic about it.”
