APC Deputy Governorship Candidate Loses Constituency to PDP in Edo Elections
Dennis Idahosa, deputy governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent Edo State elections, experienced a defeat in his constituency to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Idahosa, who currently serves as the lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, lost in both local governments within his constituency.
The Ovia Federal Constituency, which comprises Ovia North East and Ovia South West local governments, saw a narrow victory for the PDP. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC garnered 10,150 votes while PDP received 10,260 votes in Ovia South West. In Ovia North East, the APC secured 13,225 votes against PDP’s 15,311 votes.
In another significant result, Godwins Omobayo, the deputy governor of the state, also faced defeat in his local government, Akoko-Edo. The PDP scored 15,865 votes compared to the APC’s 34,847 votes. The election results further highlighted the shifting political dynamics within the state.
Blessing Agbebaku, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, was another prominent political figure who lost to the APC. In his local government, the APC obtained 12,277 votes while the PDP managed 11,284 votes.
