Baldur's Gate 3 Withers Big Naturals Mod

GHENT, BelgiumBaldur's Gate 3 players have downloaded more than 100 million mods for the critically acclaimed role-playing game, developer Larian Studios announced this week. The milestone was celebrated with a humorous nod to one of the game’s most popular mods, “Withers Big Naturals,” which has gained a cult following since its release.

Larian shared the news on social media, posting an image of the game’s undead NPC Withers with the “00” in “100 million” strategically placed to highlight the character’s newly enhanced chest. The studio followed up with a direct link to the mod, which is now officially available on PC, Mac, and consoles. “You are modding naturals,” Larian quipped in its announcement.

The “Withers Big Naturals” mod first debuted on PC in April 2024, but console players had to wait until the release of Patch 7 in October, which introduced mod support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The mod’s popularity has since skyrocketed, becoming a symbol of the game’s vibrant modding community.

Larian has been a vocal supporter of modding, previously revealing that over 50 million mods had been downloaded by October 2023. The latest figure of 100 million downloads underscores the game’s enduring appeal and the creativity of its player base. The studio has also curated a list of officially supported mods, including the now-infamous “Withers Big Naturals.”

Harvey Randall, a PC Gamer editor and self-proclaimed “big naturals appreciator,” expressed relief that console players could finally experience the mod firsthand. “With the official green light from Larian, that’s clearly not a worry anymore,” Randall said.

The milestone comes ahead of Baldur’s Gate 3’s eighth and final major post-launch patch, which will introduce 12 new subclasses, cross-play functionality, and enhanced photo mode features. While no release date has been announced, Larian has confirmed that the patch will mark the end of its active development on the game.

Following the patch, Larian will shift its focus to two new projects based on its own intellectual properties. The studio recently announced that it is entering a “media blackout” as it dedicates its resources to these upcoming titles.

For players new to modding, Larian has compiled a list of resources to help them get started. The studio’s continued support for the modding community has been a key factor in Baldur’s Gate 3’s ongoing success, with players creating everything from cosmetic changes to gameplay overhauls.

As the game’s modding scene continues to thrive, Larian’s playful celebration of the 100 million download milestone highlights the studio’s unique approach to engaging with its community. Whether it’s through epic storytelling or a well-placed joke, Larian has cemented its reputation as a developer that listens to its fans.
