Baltimore Running Festival Traffic Restrictions

BALTIMORE, MD — The Baltimore City Department of Transportation has announced traffic changes and restrictions during the 25th Annual Baltimore Running Festival happening this weekend.

The marathon is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, starting from the intersection of Paca and Camden Streets. The festival will feature several events including the CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Half-Marathon, a 5K race, and the Pandora 10K.

More than 14,000 runners are expected to participate in the races, which will commence at various times from different locations. The 5K kicks off at 7:30 a.m. at Light & Pratt Streets, while the Half-Marathon is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at Pratt & Calvert Streets.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to check the interactive road closure map the city has set up to understand how neighborhoods will be affected throughout the day. Parking restrictions begin Friday, October 17, at 8:00 p.m. and last until Sunday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m.

Specific roads in the downtown area will face closures and delays as the races proceed. Motorists should expect significant delays and are advised to take alternate routes to avoid getting caught in the race footprint.

Commercial vehicle restrictions are also in place for Saturday. From 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., commercial vehicles, including heavy trucks and tankers, are prohibited from entering downtown and Inner Harbor areas.

City officials have stated these restrictions will be strictly enforced. They recommend that commercial vehicle operators use alternate routes during this time.

For those needing to travel into the city, public transportation options, including the MTA Metro SubwayLink, will remain operational and are encouraged as alternatives.

Officials advise that all road closure and restriction times are approximate and may change based on race day conditions. Motorists are encouraged to remain vigilant for any evolving traffic patterns and for guidance from traffic controllers.
