Beto O'rourke Public Event Texas Rally

Denton, Texas — Former congressman Beto O'Rourke is back on the campaign trail, rallying support against President Donald Trump. After three high-profile, yet unsuccessful campaigns, O’Rourke is aiming to unite Texans in what he describes as the greatest challenge the nation faces. “It’s clear that our country is coming apart, and was coming apart before Trump,” he told The Dallas Morning News. O’Rourke will host a town hall on Saturday at Anderson’s Eatery & Distillery.

This event marks one of five town halls O’Rourke has organized around Texas, as he seeks to engage with constituents directly. He previously held events in Mansfield, Wichita Falls, and Fort Bend County, joining Minnesota Governor Tim Walz at the last gathering.

While O’Rourke has not confirmed a run for statewide office, he emphasizes the importance of listening to the public. “My theory is that the only way we’re going to overcome things is by bringing people together,” he said. O’Rourke encourages participation across all political perspectives, stressing that true progress won’t come solely from Republicans or Democrats.

The El Paso native gained national attention in 2018 when he nearly defeated Republican Senator Ted Cruz and later ran for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. After a defeat against Governor Greg Abbott in 2022, he now focuses on voter mobilization efforts. “I’m going to do whatever I can to be useful,” he stated. “Right now that is organizing and registering voters across the state.”

O’Rourke’s return to public events has sparked speculation about his political future. He believes engaging voters is essential, especially for those disillusioned by recent election outcomes. “I have found nothing better at keeping despair at bay than taking action,” O’Rourke added.

Reflecting on previous Democratic challenges in Texas, he stated, “Democrats haven’t won a statewide race since 1994.” O’Rourke noted the need for sustained organizing efforts year-round, especially as potential Democratic candidates emerge for the 2026 election cycle.

He remains optimistic about future elections, particularly regarding potential Democratic opportunities if Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton were to face off against John Cornyn. “Ken Paxton would be a gift for those who want to see a Democrat in the U.S. Senate,” O’Rourke claimed.

O’Rourke concluded his remarks by urging others to stay engaged and active in their communities, saying, “As long as I can speak, I can have hope.” His focus remains on listening to the people of Texas and advocating for a more inclusive democracy.
