Washington, D.C. — Michael LaRosa, the former press secretary for First Lady Jill Biden, shed light on the lack of transparency during the Biden administration in a recent interview with Fox News. Speaking on Sunday, LaRosa talked about the culture of secrecy that surrounded the Biden family while they were in the White House.

LaRosa stated that those around President Biden were, in his words, ‘allergic to transparency.’ From the very first day of his role in the East Wing, LaRosa felt it was challenging to get clear answers from the administration, noting that an usher was let go on his first day and reporters struggled to receive straightforward information.

His comments come amid ongoing discussions about President Biden’s fitness for office, especially after various incidents that raised concerns about his cognitive abilities. ‘It was not their style to be transparent about anything,’ LaRosa said, referencing moments when the administration delayed sharing even minor details such as incidents involving the Biden family dog, Major, or events like family weddings.

LaRosa indicated that even if evidence of cognitive decline had emerged earlier, it likely wouldn’t have changed the outcome of Biden’s 2024 campaign intentions. He emphasized that the administration’s lack of straightforwardness made him question how they would handle significantly broader issues in the future.

The interview also highlighted a tension within the administration, as LaRosa suggested that the culture of secrecy could have serious implications for governance and public trust, saying, ‘If it’s this hard to get them to just be transparent and disclose things… My God, what would happen if there were more serious issues?’ as he reflected on the Biden administration’s approach.
