Billy Porter With Democratic Governors On Blue Wall Bus Tour

As the 2024 presidential campaign enters its final weeks, Tony-, Grammy-, and Emmy-winning actor Billy Porter has lent his support to Vice President Kamala Harris by participating in the ‘Driving Forward Blue Wall Bus Tour’. This initiative, led by Democratic governors Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Tony Evers of Wisconsin, and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, aims to engage undecided voters and bolster support for Harris in key swing states.

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, the bus tour made several stops in western Pennsylvania, including events in Slippery Rock, Moon, and Baldwin, culminating in an evening rally in Wilkinsburg. During the Wilkinsburg event, Porter, who hails from Pittsburgh, led a game of Jeopardy focused on questions about Pittsburgh and the ongoing election. U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-Pa.) also addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude for the efforts to support Harris and the entire Democratic ticket.

The bus tour, which began in Wisconsin and passed through Michigan before reaching Pennsylvania, highlights the importance of these states in the Democratic strategy for the presidential election. The governors’ interactions with potential voters in their communities are designed to reconnect those who may feel disenfranchised or disillusioned with the electoral process. Lauren Williams, President of the Young Democrats of Allegheny County, emphasized the significance of such community engagements in encouraging voter participation.

The event also drew attention due to the close race between Harris and former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, with the two candidates virtually tied in numerous polls. The tour will conclude on Sunday with further engagements in central and eastern Pennsylvania.
