Bjp Leader Kirodi Lal Meena Resigns As Rajasthan Agriculture Minister After Election Setback

Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena has tendered his resignation from the state’s cabinet following setbacks in the Lok Sabha elections. Meena, a prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, had vowed to step down if the BJP lost any of the seven parliamentary seats, including his native constituency Dausa, for which he was responsible.

Post the election results, Meena honored his commitment and submitted his resignation to the Chief Minister’s office in Rajasthan. It was reported that the resignation was offered around 10 days ago.

Reflecting on his decision, Meena expressed his feelings stating, “Despite working actively for the last 10-12 years, I couldn’t make my party win in those areas where I have some impact. The High Command has asked me to come to Delhi tomorrow, I will go there and try to convince them as I have announced that if I won’t be able to make my party win, I’ll resign, and I have done that. It is my moral duty that I should resign if my party doesn’t win.”

The resignation was publicly announced by Meena, who took to the platform X to quote the famous lines from Ramcharitramanas to convey his steadfast resolve in keeping his promise.

Although the Chief Minister has not officially accepted the resignation yet, Meena made it clear that his decision to step down came from his commitment to uphold his word. The BJP leader notably served as a five-time MLA, former Rajya Sabha MP, and had represented Dausa and Sawai Madhopur as a Lok Sabha MP.

During the Lok Sabha elections, Meena had been entrusted with specific responsibilities by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in eastern Rajasthan, a region where his influence was expected to play a significant role. However, with the BJP losing some crucial seats, including Dausa, Meena felt compelled to fulfill his promise to resign.

In response to his resignation, Meena explained, “There is no reason for resentment. I have resigned. I did not go to the recent Cabinet meeting because I had resigned. I could go morally. I had also met the CM. He had respectfully said that he will not accept the resignation.”

Kirodi Lal Meena’s decision to resign as Rajasthan Agriculture Minister has drawn attention within political circles, with the leader’s integrity and commitment to his public statements being widely discussed.
