Bjp Leader Ravneet Singh Bittu Set To Join Modi Cabinet After Ludhiana Election Loss

Despite his defeat in the Ludhiana constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Ravneet Singh Bittu, a prominent BJP leader and former Congress MP, is poised to be inducted into the council of ministers under Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s leadership.

A senior leader from Punjab, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Bittu is likely to join the ministerial ranks on Sunday evening, emphasizing his selection as a Sikh representation from Punjab.

Bittu emerged as the preferred choice over other contenders such as Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Parampal Kaur Sidhu, and Hans Raj Hans, despite their defeats in Amritsar, Bathinda, and Faridkot respectively.

In an interaction with ANI in Delhi, Bittu expressed gratitude towards the Modi government for prioritizing Punjab’s development and portraying his inclusion as a minister post-election setback. Asserting his commitment to bridging the gap between the state and the Centre, Bittu highlighted the significance of addressing critical issues like farmer protests and enhancing Punjab’s infrastructure.

A scion of the late Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, Bittu’s political journey saw a shift to the BJP ahead of the recent elections, contesting in Ludhiana where he faced defeat against Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring.

Bittu’s impending ministerial role marks a significant transition from his past stints as a three-time Lok Sabha MP, representing Anandpur Sahib and Ludhiana on a Congress ticket in the previous electoral cycles. Hailing from Kotla Afghana village in the Ludhiana district, Bittu’s political trajectory has positioned him as a prominent figure in Punjab politics.

Parallelly, other BJP leaders like Manohar Lal Khattar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Bandi Sanjay Kumar are expected to join the Union Council of Ministers in the upcoming oath-taking ceremony, alongside PM Modi, aiming to fortify the party’s presence in states like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra amidst recent electoral setbacks.
