BJP Releases First List of Candidates for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalized the names of its candidates for 56 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming 2024 general elections. The much-anticipated first list may be released at any time, revealing where Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will contest.
Sources indicate that the BJP will leave 6 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh for Apna Dal, RLSP, Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party, and Nishad Party. This strategic move will allocate 2 seats to Apna Dal, 2 to RLSP, and 1 each to Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party and Nishad Party. Following this strategy, BJP has finalized its candidates for 56 seats.
It is reported that PM Modi will once again contest from Varanasi. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will contest from Gandhinagar and Lucknow respectively. There are speculations that former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was offered the ticket from Bhopal, but he has expressed his intention to contest from his home district, Vidisha.
In addition, there is a possibility that Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina might contest from Rajouri-Anantnag seat. Gujarat’s former Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, could be fielded in the elections. Similarly, Sarbananda Sonowal may contest from Dibrugarh. Jyotiraditya Scindia might enter the electoral arena from Guna-Shivpuri.
Possible candidates from other constituencies include Subrat Pathak from Kannauj, Murli Dharan from Tiruvananthapuram Rural, Sukhant Majumdar from Balurghat, Ravi Kishan from Gorakhpur, Manasukh Mandaviya from Bhavnagar, Harish Dwivedi from Basti, Pralhad Joshi from Hubli-Dharwad, Shobha Karandlaje from Karnataka, Poonam Madam from Jamnagar, and Fagan Singh Kulaste from Mandla.
Moreover, there are talks about fielding Pravesh Verma from West Delhi. Asansol might witness Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh against Shatrughan Sinha. Ravinder Raina could stand as a candidate from Gurugram, Sunita Duggal from Sirsa, Kamlesh Paswan from Bansgaon, S.P.S. Baghel from Agra, and Manoj Tiwari from North-East Delhi.
