BJP Secures First Victory in Lok Sabha Elections with Unopposed Win in Surat
In a significant development in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured its first victory with candidate Mukesh Dalal winning the Surat constituency unopposed.
The District Collector of Surat, Gujarat, awarded Dalal the Member of Parliament (MP) certificate following the withdrawal of all other contenders, including Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani.
CR Paatil, the Gujarat BJP chief, extended his congratulations to Dalal for his unopposed election in the Surat Lok Sabha seat.
Nilesh Kumbhani of the Congress faced a setback as his nomination form was rejected due to the inability to present his proposers before the election officer, leading to his elimination from the race.
Furthermore, Suresh Padsala, who was a substitute candidate from the Congress, also had his nomination invalidated, resulting in the party’s exit from the electoral contest in Surat.
Among the contenders who withdrew from the Surat Lok Sabha seat race was Pyarelal Bharati from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel hailed Dalal’s victory as a prelude to the BJP’s anticipated triumph in the Lok Sabha polls, emphasizing its significance in Gujarat and across the nation.
The cancellation of Kumbhani’s nomination was attributed to discrepancies in the signatures on the nomination form, as stated by the election officer.
All eyes are now set on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat, scheduled for May 7, where all 26 seats in the state will be up for contention.
