Brewers Face Reds in Critical Playoff Showdown on Saturday Night

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Milwaukee Brewers will host the Cincinnati Reds in a crucial game at American Family Field on Saturday night, September 27, as part of the 2025 regular season. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.
Left-handed pitcher Quinn Priester (0-1, 6.00 ERA) will take the mound for the Brewers, while the Reds will counter with left-hander Andrew Abbott (9-7, 2.80). The Brewers, who have already clinched the NL Central title with a 96-64 record, are looking to secure home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
The Brewers’ magic number to clinch the best record in the majors has been reduced to one, putting pressure on their performance in this penultimate game. The team has faced a recent slump, losing five of their last seven games, including a 3-1 defeat to the Reds on September 26.
Manager Pat Murphy acknowledged the offensive struggles, stating, “It certainly hasn’t been a juggernaut, that’s for sure. We haven’t played our normal, typical ball-strike, grind-it-out game.” The Brewers have not scored more than three runs in regulation during this recent stretch and have hit only two home runs in their last seven games, ranking them among the lowest in the league.
Christian Yelich, another key player for the Brewers, emphasized the importance of maintaining a competitive approach as they prepare for the playoffs. “This is important to play right. We understand the ramifications of the games are not the same, but it’s important to play right and grind out at-bats,” he said.
On the other hand, the Reds are fighting for their playoff lives, having drawn even with the New York Mets for the final National League wild card spot. With a sweep, they could clinch a postseason berth.
Despite recent challenges, the Brewers have some good news on their side. Jackson Chourio set a record, becoming the youngest player in MLB history to achieve two 20/20 seasons, a significant milestone at just 20 years of age.
As they face the Reds, the Brewers aim to capitalize on their home-field advantage and regain momentum before the postseason begins on October 4.
