Bruno Tonioli Celebrates 70th Birthday Amid DWTS Finale Buzz
NEW YORK, Nov. 25, 2025 — Bruno Tonioli, beloved judge of “Dancing with the Stars,” turns 70 today, coinciding with excitement over the season 34 finale where one of five contestants will take home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
Tonioli’s vibrant personality and unique judging style have captivated audiences for two decades on the popular American dance competition. This leading role comes after his impressive 15-year tenure on its British predecessor, “Strictly Come Dancing,” and decades as a choreographer for music legends, including Elton John and Tina Turner.
His career took off in 2004 when he joined the judging panel of “Strictly Come Dancing” alongside fellow judges Arlene Phillips, and head judge Len Goodman. By 2005, Tonioli made his American TV debut as a judge on “Dancing with the Stars,” quickly becoming a fan favorite.
In 2019, he stepped back from the BBC show to focus on his commitments with “DWTS,” but returned to the ballroom in 2020 with a fresh appearance and an invigorated judging style. Although the show’s renewal for a 35th season remains unconfirmed, his presence remains strong.
Outside of the spotlight, Tonioli has been in a relationship with Jason Schanne since 2010, reportedly hosting a commitment ceremony in 2012. While he keeps his private life mostly to himself, his warmth and charisma shine through on stage.
