California Files Charges Against Aaron Phypers Amid Domestic Violence Allegations

Los Angeles, CA — Aaron Phypers has been arrested in connection with four criminal charges filed by the State of California. The 53-year-old was taken into custody on Friday, Oct. 17, during a break in a court hearing regarding a restraining order requested by his ex-wife, Denise Richards.
Phypers’ attorney, Michael Finley, stated that he expects the allegations to be proven false, asserting that they are similar to those already contested in a domestic violence case. ‘I have not seen the criminal complaint yet, however, based upon the little that I have been told, it appears to be the same allegations we’re already fighting,’ Finley told PEOPLE. ‘We expect it to also be proven false and for him to be exonerated.’
According to court records, the criminal complaint against Phypers was formally filed at the Van Nuys Courthouse on Thursday, Oct. 16. He faces two counts of injuring an intimate partner and two counts of dissuading a witness by threat or force. The alleged incidents occurred in January and May of 2022.
Phypers was booked into the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station near Malibu, shortly after his arrest on Oct. 17, and is currently held on a $200,000 bail. Earlier in the month, Richards testified in court that Phypers caused her multiple concussions during their marriage through physical abuse. She claimed that he would use equipment at his wellness center to treat her after she experienced headaches and nausea.
Richards detailed several specific incidents of alleged abuse, including one on Jan. 17, 2022, where he allegedly caused a concussion after slamming her against a concrete wall. Another alleged assault occurred in a Chicago hotel in April 2025, where Richards claimed Phypers squeezed her head and threatened her life.
‘He’s almost killed me so many damn times,’ she tearfully testified. During an earlier statement on the stand, Phypers denied all allegations, claiming he never physically harmed Richards or threatened her. ‘A lot of people like to be close to the stars. They’ll do things for them,’ Phypers asserted, referring to testimony from witnesses in support of Richards.
The judge has continued the restraining order until Nov. 7 as the legal proceedings unfold.
