Cam Fowler Signs Three-Year Contract Extension with St. Louis Blues
ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues have secured defenseman Cam Fowler with a three-year contract extension worth $18.3 million, the team announced Saturday night.
Fowler, 33, joined the Blues last season after being traded from the Anaheim Ducks. His new contract brings an annual salary cap hit of $6.1 million and ensures that he will remain with the team through the 2028-29 season.
General Manager Doug Armstrong expressed enthusiasm for the deal, stating, “It started with, we really wanted Cam here, we’ve loved everything he’s done and he loves it here.”
Last season, Fowler played 51 games for the Blues, totaling 36 points with nine goals and 27 assists. He excelled in the postseason as well, scoring ten points in seven games and setting a franchise record for points by a defenseman in a single series.
Originally drafted by the Ducks in 2010, Fowler has enjoyed a notable career in the NHL, accumulating 493 points in 1,042 regular-season games. His experience has been a valuable asset on the Blues’ blue line, particularly alongside partner Colton Parayko.
Fowler’s performance with the Blues marked a resurgence in his career, following a period of decline with the Ducks. His agility and skilled skating are expected to contribute positively to the team moving forward, especially as young defensive prospects develop.
With the signing, the Blues look to strengthen their defense and build on last season’s playoff performance.
