Cameron Young Ryder Cup

Bethpage Black, New YorkCameron Young, a 28-year-old golfer from Briarcliff Manor, is set to compete in his first Ryder Cup this weekend. Young, one of four rookies on Team USA, has gained significant support from his family and fans, particularly from the New York area, where he has deep roots.

His mother, Barbara, expressed her excitement this week, sharing, “I know Cameron has a huge support system and fan base in New York, and I know they’ll be pulling for him, which will be great. We’ll see how that looks. I’m excited for him.” Barbara also reflected on the life changes Cameron has experienced over the past five years as he transitioned from aspiring golfer to tour competitor, husband, and father of three.

“It’s quite remarkable to me that he’s been able to play at this level knowing everything he has on his plate, but he and Kelsey really seem to have a good handle on it,” she said, referencing his wife Kelsey Dalition. Kelsey, along with her brothers and friends, will be cheering him on at the Ryder Cup, and David, Kelsey’s brother, mentioned the family’s excitement about being inside the ropes where they can enjoy the action up close.

Cameron and Kelsey met at Wake Forest University. Their bond has only strengthened over the years; they celebrated their marriage in March 2021. Cameron describes Kelsey as a great support as he navigates the pressures of professional golf. “The last thing I want to do when I get home is answer questions like, ‘Why’d you pull a 9-iron on 16?’ That would make my head explode,” he stated. Kelsey’s lack of a strong golf background provides a refreshing perspective for Cameron.

Young’s impressive performance this year includes a win at the Wyndham Championship and high placements in major tournaments like the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. His financial success has significantly increased his net worth, currently estimated between $17 to $18 million.

Cameron also highlighted how marriage has positively affected his game. During a prior interview, his father, David, noted that having a family has contributed to Cameron’s focus on the course, stating, “There’s another part of his life now that’s not attached to how well he plays every day. It’s been a joy to him, and we’ve seen that in his personality. But on the golf course, he’s pretty well-focused and works really hard.” Cameron and Kelsey are parents to three children, including their eldest, Henry. As the Ryder Cup kicks off, all eyes will be on Young as he aims to help Team USA secure a historic victory.
