Cardi B Offset Divorce Emotional Pain

LOS ANGELES, CA — Cardi B opened up about the emotional struggles she faced before her divorce from Offset during an episode of Jay Shetty‘s podcast, released on Monday, October 6. The 32-year-old rapper shared her feelings of loneliness and the fading love in her marriage.

“I felt the love dying from my end — from my end, from his end,” Cardi said. She described how the emotional distance grew between them, which compounded her feelings of isolation. “I was very lonely because I chose to be lonely,” she added.

Cardi filed for divorce from Offset, 33, in July 2024. Despite the end of their marriage, the couple welcomed their daughter, Blossom, just two months later. Cardi also has two other children with Offset, Kulture, 7, and Wave, 4.

Reflecting on her pregnancy, Cardi recalled asking herself what her life would be like without Offset, saying, “What’s life going to be without raising my last child without this person? What’s life going to be with that person not being my friend anymore?” These thoughts weighed heavily on her during her pregnancy.

As she navigated her heartbreak, Cardi found comfort in her friendship with fellow musician Shakira. The two bonded while collaborating on the song “Puntería,” as they both experienced similar heartaches. Cardi asked Shakira how she coped with her split from Gerard Piqué, and received encouraging words: “It’s going to happen,” Shakira told her.

Despite her initial skepticism, Cardi realized she had to endure the pain. “It took some crying, it took some thoughts, scary thoughts. But I’m here, honey. I’m the strongest I’ve been,” she said with resilience.

Cardi’s journey to healing also coincided with her new relationship with NFL player Stefon Diggs, 31. She expressed gratitude for his presence in her life, stating he often reached out when she needed support the most. “Sometimes we would talk for six and seven hours,” Cardi said of their conversations.

Now pregnant with her first child with Diggs, Cardi reflects on the past while embracing her future. After the ups and downs of her previous relationship, she says she is ready for love again.
