Cbs Evening News Ratings Drop

New York, NY – CBS Evening News is struggling with ratings following the departure of its former host earlier this year. According to live-plus-same-day data for the week of June 16, the program hosted by anchor and co-anchor brought in 3.981 million viewers, a notable drop compared to the same week last year.

The show saw a decline of 4% in total viewers from the previous week and an 8% drop compared to the same week last year. In the key demographic of Adults 25-54, the ratings fell by 15% year-over-year.

The previous host, who led the show from 2019 until January 23, 2025, concluded her tenure with a final episode that left a significant mark. The program has since transitioned to a new format that incorporates a magazine style similar to CBS’s 60 Minutes.

This revamped Evening News aims to provide in-depth segments on specific topics instead of the traditional format which focused on quick headlines. The changes were introduced under the guidance of CBS’s CEO and president.

As CBS Evening News continues to adapt, the impact of these changes on ratings remains to be seen. The network hopes to regain its footing in the competitive landscape of evening news broadcasts.
