In a recent interview with CBC’s Adrienne Arsenault, Dion candidly revealed her ordeal, recounting how false reports of her death caused distress to her children, triggered by social media speculation a few years ago. This revelation came in the wake of her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome in 2022, a disease that forced the cancellation of her tour dates as she navigated the debilitating symptoms that accompanied it.

Her 13-year-old twin sons, Nelson and Eddy, have undertaken crisis training at home to assist her during episodes, and panic buttons have been installed throughout her residence, including in case of emergencies.

The pop superstar disclosed the long-standing battle with symptoms that persisted over the years, leading to a dependence on high doses of Valium to endure performances. Despite taking dangerous doses of the drug to cope with muscle spasms, Dion sought medical intervention to safely taper off the medication as it began to lose efficacy.
