Chattanooga, Tennessee — The city received a $90,000 tourism enhancement grant on Monday morning for the installation of a weather-protective band shell cover at Coolidge Park.

The grant, presented by Tennessee Department of Tourist Development commissioner Mark Ezell during a check presentation event, aims to support the Coolidge Park Live and Electric Project. This funding is vital for the band shell, which will enable events to continue regardless of the weather conditions.

City officials stated that the band shell is a key feature of their effort to upgrade local facilities, which also includes a permanent stage and enhanced electrical systems. According to a city press release, these improvements are intended to create a professional venue that can host events year-round.

The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development allocated over $2 million in grants to 30 communities in total, intending to help cities and counties invest in tourism projects that boost visitation and economic growth.

“These grants are crucial for enhancing the local tourism appeal and creating more opportunities for our community,” Ezell said.

Chattanooga looks forward to reaping the benefits of these upgrades, offering residents and visitors a reliable space for entertainment and cultural events.
