CHICAGO, Ill. — NBC‘s One Chicago franchise is set to deliver its first crossover event in five years on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, with a three-hour special featuring “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,” and “Chicago P.D.” The high-stakes episode, described by Wolf Entertainment EVP Anastasia Puglisi as a “three-hour action movie,” will center on a gas explosion at a high-rise building, forcing Chicago’s first responders into a race against time to save lives.

The crossover begins at 8 p.m. ET/PT with “Chicago Fire,” followed by “Chicago Med” at 9 p.m. and “Chicago P.D.” at 10 p.m. The plot involves a rescue mission to save 40 people trapped underground, including two first responders. Stella Kidd, played by Miranda Rae Mayo, is among those trapped, alongside Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) from “Chicago P.D.” The tension escalates as Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) shouts, “People are still on that train, including my wife.”

Anastasia Puglisi, executive vice president of Wolf Entertainment, described the event as a “must-watch” for fans. “It’s been five years since we’ve done a crossover of this scale, and we wanted to make it unforgettable,” she said. The crossover will also be available to stream on Peacock starting Thursday, Jan. 30.

Fans of the franchise can revisit previous crossovers, including the 2019 event that tackled a serial killer case and the 2017 crossover that involved a child pornography ring. The One Chicago universe has a history of blending high-stakes drama with character-driven storytelling, and this event promises to continue that tradition.

In addition to the crossover, NBC is offering fans a chance to win One Chicago merchandise and autographed memorabilia through a sweepstakes running from Jan. 23 to Feb. 22. The network will also host an Instagram Live event at 7:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 29, featuring cast members answering fan questions and sharing behind-the-scenes content.

Trudy Platt (Amy Morton), a beloved character from “Chicago P.D.,” will also play a significant role in the crossover. Platt, who is married to “Chicago Fire’s” Mouch (Christian Stolte), finds herself in the hospital during the event, adding another layer of emotional stakes to the storyline.

For viewers without cable, the crossover will be available on live TV streaming services such as Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, and Sling TV, all of which are currently offering free trials. Peacock subscriptions start at $7.99 per month, with an annual deal offering 12 months for the price of 10.
