Chief of Air Staff Responds to Murder of Sarkin Gobir with Assurance of Action
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Bala Hassan Abubakar, emphasized the need for decisive action against bandits in the Northwestern region following the murder of Sarkin Gobir. During a visit to Sokoto, he expressed his condolences to the government and people of the state over the brutal killing of the monarch. This visit included a courtesy call to Sokoto Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
Air Marshal Abubakar assured the Sokoto residents that military campaigns against bandits would be intensified. He mentioned plans to deploy their full arsenal against the criminal elements in the coming weeks or months. “Let me, therefore, send a clear message to these criminal elements. I assure you, your days are numbered,” Abubakar declared, pledging relentless pursuit until justice was served.
The lack of an operational base in Sokoto has reportedly hindered military operations in the state. Air Marshal Abubakar called on the state government to provide the necessary resources to begin full operations. The Governor of Sokoto, represented by Deputy Engineer Idris Gobir, responded by stating the administration’s commitment to security and its willingness to invest significantly to restore peace.
