Clayton County Closes Facilities Amid Severe Weather Forecast
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – The Clayton County Board of Commissioners announced the closure of all administrative offices, libraries, recreation centers, and senior centers on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, due to predicted severe weather conditions. The decision aligns with the county’s emergency management protocols to prioritize public safety.
The closures include the cancellation of all scheduled events and activities at the affected facilities. County officials urged residents to stay informed through local media, social media channels, and the county’s official communication platforms. “Safety is our top priority,” said Valerie L. Fuller, Communications Administrator for Clayton County. “We encourage everyone to stay updated on weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel.”
The announcement follows a series of weather-related disruptions across the region, including MARTA‘s suspension of bus and streetcar services earlier in the week. Clayton County’s decision to close facilities underscores the severity of the forecasted weather, which includes potential ice accumulation and hazardous road conditions.
Residents can access updates via the county’s social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, X, Nextdoor, and LinkedIn, as well as through local television and radio broadcasts. Media inquiries can be directed to the Office of Communications at 770.473.3834 or submitted through the county’s official website.
