Cold Front Promises Rainy Weekend for Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A cold front is set to bring unsettled weather to the Washington, D.C. region this weekend, as residents prepare for cloudy skies and rain.
Friday is expected to be warm, with temperatures reaching near 80 degrees. The day will start off mild, with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s, and a few isolated showers may develop south of the District.
“Most of the region should remain dry through the afternoon,” said Taylor Grenda from FOX 5, adding that there could be some breaks of sunshine.
However, the forecast for Saturday points to a shift, with rain and possibly strong storms expected, especially by the evening. Residents should prepare for a wet day, as conditions will likely deteriorate throughout the afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued alerts for potential weather impacts associated with Saturday’s rain, particularly along I-95 and to the east. Highs for the day will only reach between 70 and 75 degrees, with northeast winds expected at roughly 10 mph.
By Sunday, rain showers should taper off but cloudy skies will persist. A stray shower could still occur, with highs returning to the 70s, while conditions remain typically overcast.
Looking ahead, there is a chance of tropical moisture affecting the region late Monday into Tuesday, offering another round of showers and storms. “After this system moves out, more fall-like weather should return by midweek,” Grenda said.
