Community Mourns Sudden Passing of Chesterfield Mother Sarah Elizabeth Melia

CHESTERFIELD, Mich. — Sarah Elizabeth Melia, a beloved mother and wife, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2025, at the age of 46. Melia, known for her kindness and compassion, is survived by her husband Peter and their two daughters, Eliana and Nicolette.

Born Sarah Sind, she was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Patricia Sind, daughter-in-law of Dominic and Paula Melia, and granddaughter-in-law of Antonino Mediati. She is also remembered by her late brother, Joseph Sind III, and her sister-in-law, Antonino Melia, alongside a vast network of aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

A graduate of Regina High School and Wayne State University, Sarah had a distinguished career as vice president of wealth management for Raymond James. Her professional life was marked by her commitment to her clients, many of whom regarded her as a confidant and friend. Sarah’s colleagues described her as “truly kind, generous, and compassionate.”

“She was someone who never missed an opportunity to help someone in need, regardless of whether they were a friend, family member, or even a stranger,” said a close friend. “Her joy was contagious, and she brought light into every room she entered.”

Sarah enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly on nature walks with her daughters, often venturing up north where they created lasting memories together. Friends and family members have expressed their deep sorrow over her passing, stating that she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 9, from 2 PM to 9 PM, with a rosary service at 7 PM, at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc., located at 36900 Schoenherr, Sterling Heights. A mass will be held on Friday, March 10, at 10 AM at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 S. Nunneley in Clinton Township, with an instate time starting at 9:30 AM.
