Congress Releases First List of Candidates for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections
The Congress party has announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The list includes prominent names such as Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad, Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram, and Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon.
In this initial list of 39 candidates, 15 are from the general category and 24 belong to the backward, Dalit, tribal, and minority communities. The Congress has fielded candidates from Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana, and Tripura.
Notable candidates in the list include Shiv Dahariya from Jangir-Champa, Jyotsna Mahant from Korba, Rajendra Sahu from Durg, Vikas Upadhyay from Raipur, and Tamradhwaj Sahu from Mahasamund in Chhattisgarh.
In Kerala, the Congress has nominated Rajmohan Unnithan from Kasaragod, K Sudhakaran from Kannur, and Vincent Pala from Shillong. Ashish Saha will be contesting from Tripura West.
The Congress leaders have focused on a nationwide campaign called the ‘Jansangharsh Yatra,’ which promises to address various issues including employment and caste-based census. The campaign will culminate with a rally in Mumbai on March 17, with the participation of leaders from the entire Indian Political Action Committee alliance.
