Boston Weather Forecast October 2025

BOSTON, Massachusetts — After a rainy Wednesday, Boston and much of New England will see drier conditions starting Thursday evening. The storm brought significant rainfall, with Boston receiving just shy of an inch and other parts of the region experiencing up to 2 inches.

Following the rain, cool and dry air will move into the area as a high-pressure system sets in from Canada. Forecasters predict chilly morning temperatures in the low 40s across Greater Boston, and even colder in areas to the north and west, with lows possibly dipping into the 30s.

Thursday is expected to be the coldest day of the week, with highs only reaching the mid 50s in Boston. Some areas in southwestern Connecticut may reach the 60s. A brisk northerly wind of 10 to 15 mph will accompany the drop in temperatures, making it feel even cooler.

For those planning outdoor activities Thursday evening, expect clear skies, but temperatures will quickly fall after sunset, which is at 6:12 p.m. Overnight lows could approach 40 degrees, with some parts of interior New England facing frost conditions.

Friday will remain cool with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, but sunny skies are expected. The dry weather trend looks to continue for the next week with slightly warmer temperatures returning by the weekend, reaching the upper 60s and into the lower 70s by Sunday.

Weather advisories are in place for frost in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, cautioning residents about the potential harm to vegetation due to freezing temperatures overnight.

Boston is set to experience a typical fall cold snap, with the air being exceptionally dry, limiting moisture in the atmosphere. This means daily highs will be kept low, especially as overnight temperatures plummet. Weather patterns will be monitored closely in the coming week, as rain potentially returns by early next week.
