Dame Joan Collins on Rejecting a Taylor Swift Concert Invite
Dame Joan Collins, the esteemed Hollywood actress, was a guest on BBC One‘s The One Show where she candidly turned down an invitation from presenter Alex Jones to attend a Taylor Swift concert. The episode, aired on Friday, featured Joan Collins sharing anecdotes from her illustrious career on the well-known red studio sofa alongside hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp.
During the show, which also included guests Adeel Akhtar and Chesney Hawkes, Joan Collins was asked who she considered a modern-day icon. To this, she responded with high praise for pop singer Taylor Swift, stating, “Taylor Swift is a great example to young people! I like the way she dresses, I like her attitude towards life and I suppose she’s an icon. But I’ve never seen her.”
Alex Jones then playfully suggested that Joan should attend a Taylor Swift concert, to which Joan humorously replied, “Where? Where am I gonna go? Do you think I’m gonna go to one of those arenas, sorry!” She then laughed off the notion. In jest, Alex suggested that Taylor Swift could fly to her personally for a performance, an idea Roman Kemp supported.
Dame Joan Collins is famed for her role as Alexis Carrington Colby in the 1980s soap opera Dynasty, a performance that earned her widespread acclaim. Her distinguished career has seen her receive multiple awards including an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), a Golden Globe Award, a People's Choice Award, and a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award.
Her appearance on The One Show was notably lauded by fans for her enduring charm and elegance at the age of 91. Viewers took to social media platform X to express their admiration, with one user commenting, “Ninety-one. Ninety flamin’ one! Joan Collins is a legend. Still switched on and very interesting. What a life she’s led.” Others echoed these sentiments, praising her class and ageless appearance.
