Danica McKellar Discusses New Traditions in Nashville This Christmas
Nashville, Tennessee – Actress Danica McKellar is gearing up to celebrate her second Christmas in Nashville with her family. McKellar, known for her role in “The Wonder Years,” moved to the city three years ago and is excited about starting new traditions.
In a recent podcast with Christine Taylor and David Lascher, McKellar shared her reasons for leaving California. After her stepson graduated from high school, she and her husband chose to relocate to Tennessee to be closer to their son, Draco, who had been flying between Los Angeles and Florida to see his father, Mike Verta.
“California and Los Angeles didn’t feel like it used to for us,” McKellar explained. “We came to Tennessee and loved it, found this great house. We wanted more nature, and we wanted to be surrounded by more green.”
During the podcast, Lascher mentioned many entertainment industry figures are relocating from Los Angeles. He noted that his friend Doug Ellin had recently moved to Nashville and that he often contemplates where to settle down once his son graduates.
McKellar mentioned another notable name, Jason Priestley, who has also made Tennessee his home. “A lot of people live out here now,” she said. “During COVID, we learned that you don’t have to be in one place for work.”
Priestley has said life in Tennessee is “so much easier to navigate.” While McKellar’s husband, attorney Scott Sveslosky, continues to work for a firm based in Los Angeles, he only makes a few trips to the West Coast each month due to the flexibility of remote work.
Lascher shared his experience meeting Scott Wolf, another actor now living in Utah, who also flies out for work. “I was like, ‘Oh my god, you live here? Why don’t I live here?’” he recalled.
McKellar encouraged the idea of choosing where to live based on personal preference and parenting decisions. Taylor recounted her own family’s choice to move away from Los Angeles when their children were young to avoid uprooting them later on.
As the podcast continued, the group discussed the shift towards remote meetings in the entertainment industry, with Lascher noting that many industry interactions now happen over Zoom.
McKellar remarked on the convenience of this change, while other celebrities, like Sylvester Stallone and Jessica Simpson, have also expressed interest in leaving Los Angeles for a more laid-back lifestyle.
Overall, McKellar and her family are embracing their new life in Nashville as they look forward to a memorable holiday season.
