Deadly Attack in Moscow: 40 Killed in Concert Hall Incident Allegedly Linked to ISIS
At least 40 people lost their lives and 115 were injured in a tragic incident on Friday evening at a concert hall in Krasnogorsk, a suburb of Moscow. The terrible attack, followed by a massive fire, has been claimed by the jihadist group ISIS.
Law enforcement authorities in Moscow are currently on the lookout for the assailants who initiated the violent assault. An investigation into the act of terror has been launched.
ISIS, which has targeted Russia on multiple occasions in the past, stated on one of its Telegram accounts that its fighters attacked a large gathering near the Russian capital, Moscow.
The Russian diplomatic spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, denounced the incident as a heinous act of terror. The attack took place during a concert of the Russian rock band Piknik, causing panic and chaos among the attendees.
According to the Minister of Health, Mikhaïl Mourachko, 115 individuals have been hospitalized, including five children. Among the injured, sixty adults and a minor are reported to be in critical condition.
The concert hall, Crocus City Hall, found itself engulfed in flames after the armed assailants made their way into the venue, opening fire and throwing an incendiary device, leading to the spread of the fire.
The flames quickly spread through a large portion of the building, causing severe damage. Emergency services worked tirelessly to evacuate individuals present at the venue, both from the interior and from the roof, with helicopters performing water bombing.
