A court in Delhi has taken action against popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee after a defamation lawsuit was filed by BJP leader Suresh Karamshi Nakhua. The suit accuses Rathee of labeling Nakhua as a “violent and abusive troll”.

This case arose from a video Rathee posted on July 7, 2024, titled “My Reply to Godi Youtubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee”. This video quickly garnered significant attention, amassing over 2.4 million views and more than 2.3 million likes.

Nakhua’s lawsuit claims that Rathee made unsubstantiated accusations about him, suggesting that Prime Minister Modi has hosted trolls like Nakhua at his residence. The video has reportedly had over 24 million views.

The legal documents highlight that Rathee’s claims attributed violent tendencies to Nakhua without evidence, damaging his reputation among ordinary people. The plaintiff argues that the incendiary nature of Rathee’s video could harm his personal and professional life.

As a result of these comments, Nakhua is seeking damages of 20 lakhs for the defamation allegedly caused to him in the cyber realm. The matter is set to be heard in court on August 6, 2024.
