Denise Richards Reality Tv Set

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Denise Richards shared candid insights about her first experience filming a reality TV series in a recent interview with Bravo producer Alex Baskin. During her appearance on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, the actress opened up about her nerves and surprises while traveling with the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH) for a Season 9 trip to The Bahamas.

Richards, who starred in the iconic films Wild Things and Starship Troopers, expressed excitement mixed with anxiety as she joined the RHOBH cast, noting the stark contrast between scripted films and unscripted reality television. “This was a little different,” she said. “I told my boyfriend at the time that I think I need to look at this as though I’m going on location.”

While Richards was familiar with several cast members, such as Lisa Rinna, she was taken aback by how different reality television was from her Hollywood experiences. Baskin relayed a humorous moment, recalling that Richards once asked crew members, “Where’s craft services?” to which they explained that there was none available during their filming.

“I almost s—t the bed,” Richards laughed, revealing her surprise at the absence of continuous food and drink that is common on film sets. “I thought there had to be some f—ing craft service around here somewhere,” she added.

Known for being a “grazer,” Richards emphasized her need for snacks. “Lisa knows me; I’m a grazer. I always have snacks,” she said. The reality star humorously recounted raiding the minibar during excursions, saying, “I’m like, ‘I’m gonna take every pretzel and potato chip here.’”

Richards, who joined the RHOBH cast with little interest in dressing up, faced another adjustment: the glamorous expectations that come with reality television. Arriving in casual attire, including jeans and a Guns N’ Roses shirt, she admitted to underestimating the fashion involved. “Even though I watched the show, I didn’t realize until being on it what was all involved with the outfits,” she said.

Her candid reflections on reality television have resonated with fans and offer a glimpse into the challenges faced by newcomers to the genre. The full episode of the podcast, which also includes details about her upcoming Bravo docuseries featuring her family, will be available on February 18.
