Diljit Dosanjh Expands India Tour Amid Ticket Controversy

Popular Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has announced additional concert dates in India as part of his highly-anticipated Dil-Luminati Tour. This announcement was made through his Instagram handle, where Dosanjh revealed plans to perform in Delhi on October 27 and Jaipur on November 3, 2024. These new dates are anticipated to thrill fans and further cement Dosanjh’s status as one of India’s most dynamic performers.

Following this announcement, ticket sales for the newly added shows are expected to commence on October 9, 2024, at 2 PM. However, Dosanjh’s tour has already been marked by significant demand, with pre-sale tickets in September selling out in a matter of minutes across several cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. The rapid ticket sales have sparked both excitement and criticism, as many fans expressed frustration over high ticket prices and technical glitches during the purchasing process.

A recent controversy surrounding the ticket sales involved a legal notice sent to the concert’s organizers by Riddhima Kapoor, a law student from Delhi. Kapoor reported that tickets became available to purchase one minute earlier than scheduled on September 12, at 12:59 PM instead of 1 PM, which reportedly allowed many fans to book tickets prematurely. This early release led to disappointment among fans who could not secure a ticket, resulting in grievances against the concert organizers.

Despite the hiccups, the response from Dosanjh’s audience has been overwhelmingly positive. Janamjai Sehgal, Business Head of the Live Division at Saregama India, expressed satisfaction regarding the strong ticket sales. Sehgal, in an interview with NDTV, said, “In every city, the response has been massive. For every single ticket, there were four people waiting in line. It can’t get better than this.”

The Dil-Luminati Tour is set to kick off in Delhi on October 26, covering multiple Indian cities such as Chandigarh, Pune, Indore, Bengaluru, and more. Dosanjh has previously performed internationally, including a successful European tour and a historic performance at Vancouver's BC Place Stadium earlier this year.
