Disney Cruise Line Announces Major Fleet Expansion with New Ships
CELEBRATION, Fla. — Disney Cruise Line has unveiled plans to expand its fleet, announcing the addition of seven new ships over the next six years. This expansion will increase the total number of vessels to 13 by 2031, enhancing its global cruising experience.
The current fleet of Disney Cruise Line includes six ships launched between 1998 and 2024. The new ships, which will begin entering service between 2025 and 2031, promise to offer unique themes and experiences.
The Disney Destiny, scheduled to set sail in November 2025, is themed around heroes and villains. It will feature fan-favorite attractions from previous ships, along with new experiences such as the Doctor Strange-themed Sanctum lounge and a Broadway-style production of “Hercules,” which includes a never-before-heard song titled “Shooting Star.”
Disney Adventure will introduce seven themed zones, including Marvel Landing, featuring three new Avengers attractions, as well as the Toy Story Place water zone. This ship will also include an interior garden-view room type not currently offered on any Disney ship.
Additionally, Disney Cruise Line is developing a new ship owned by Oriental Land Company, which operates the Tokyo Disney Resort. This fourth Wish Class vessel will have 1,250 staterooms and is expected to sail out of Tokyo.
The official inaugural season of Disney Destiny will begin on November 20, 2025, with four- and five-night cruises starting from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, heading to The Bahamas and the Western Caribbean. Bookings for this highly anticipated vessel opened on September 12, 2024.
Unique features such as dining experiences themed to “The Lion King” and villain-themed attractions are set to make the Disney Destiny a special addition to the cruise line. Disney plans to maintain its renowned focus on family entertainment with new characters, including original storytellers Zayah and Gamble, who will host family events and shows.
Disney’s commitment to creating magical family experiences at sea continues to resonate with guests, positioning these new ships as key components in the company’s expanding entertainment offerings.
