Dallas Goedert Eagles Injury News

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Tight end Dallas Goedert will not play in the Philadelphia Eagles’ highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday due to a knee injury. The Eagles announced Goedert’s status on Friday, noting that he did not practice throughout the week, raising concerns about his recovery.

With Goedert sidelined, the Eagles will rely on Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson as their primary tight ends. Calcaterra, a fourth-year player out of Southern Methodist University, is expected to take on a more significant role after a standout preseason performance. Coaches might also adjust offensive strategies, opting for more 11 personnel to capitalize on wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in the passing game.

Goedert made a notable impact in last week’s season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, securing seven receptions and contributing significantly to the Eagles’ 24-20 victory. His ability to capitalize on the Cowboys’ defensive strategy, which aimed to limit Brown and Smith, showcased his importance in the offense.

Injuries have plagued Goedert’s career since he was drafted in the second round in 2018. He missed seven games last season, during which the Eagles found success, finishing 6-1. This season, Goedert hoped for a healthy year as he negotiates a one-year restructured deal after offseason trade rumors.

The Eagles are still hopeful for Goedert’s return in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams but will have to adjust their playmaking strategies without their top tight end for the immediate future.
