Eagles and Panthers Achieve Thrilling NFL Victories on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA — Jordan Davis blocked a field-goal attempt by the Rams’ Joshua Karty on the final play of the game and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown, giving the Philadelphia Eagles a thrilling 33-26 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. This marked the Eagles’ second blocked kick of the fourth quarter.
The Rams (2-1) led 26-21 midway through the fourth when Jalen Carter blocked Karty’s 36-yard try. Jalen Hurts then led the Super Bowl champion Eagles (3-0) on a 17-play, 91-yard drive for the go-ahead score. With just 1:48 left on the clock, Matthew Stafford guided the Rams into position for Karty’s 44-yard attempt, but Davis intervened to secure the win for Philadelphia, which celebrated its 12th straight home victory.
Initially, Philadelphia struggled, trailing 26-7 in the third quarter after Stafford passed for his second touchdown of the game. Karty had already kicked four field goals for the Rams after they faced a tight NFC divisional playoff loss to the Eagles last season. However, Hurts and his team showcased resilience, showcasing clutch plays down the stretch.
In another significant game, the Carolina Panthers, led by Bryce Young, achieved their first win of the season by defeating the Atlanta Falcons 30-0. Young, who had previously struggled with turnovers, completed 16 of 24 passes for 121 yards, showcasing a more confident performance.
Defensive standout Chau Smith-Wade returned an interception 11 yards for a touchdown, contributing to the Panthers’ dominant performance. The Panthers (1-2) managed to limit the Falcons (1-2) significantly, forcing three turnovers and posting their first shutout since November 2020. Smith-Wade’s third-quarter pick-six highlighted a tough outing for the Falcons, who struggled offensively throughout the game.
Overall, the Eagles and Panthers demonstrated strong performances in a thrilling day of NFL action.
