Easter Weekend Rainfall Warning Sparks Concern In Prince Edward Island's Prince County

An Environment Canada warning has been issued for Prince Edward Island‘s Prince County, forecasting heavy rainfall over the Easter long weekend. With up to 15 mm of rain per hour expected, residents are urged to prepare for potential flash floods and road water pooling.

Temperatures are predicted to remain above average, reaching 13 C in Charlottetown on Friday. Prince County could see a total rainfall accumulation of 50 to 70 mm by midday Saturday as per Environment Canada’s warning.

CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon highlighted on social media that a significant weather system is targeting New Brunswick, western Nova Scotia, and P.E.I., with expected rainfall ranging from 40 to 80 mm and localized areas possibly exceeding 100 mm by Saturday.

Snoddon cautioned about the risk of localized flooding, mentioning a potential transition from rain to flurries on Friday night and into Saturday, heightening concerns for residents and travelers in the region.
