Election 2024: Early Exit Polls Indicate Voter Dissatisfaction and Tight Race Between Trump and Harris
As the 2024 U.S. presidential election unfolds, early exit polls are providing insights into voter sentiments and the tight contest between Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump. According to the first exit polls, voters are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with the direction of the country, setting a somber tone for the election outcome.
The initial voting in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, a small township that traditionally casts the first ballots, saw a split decision with three votes for each candidate. This mirrors the national trends that predict a closely contested election. Both candidates are heavily focusing on swing states such as Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Michigan, where small shifts in voter support could be decisive.
Exit polls indicate that voters are deeply engaged, with record participation in early voting. Key issues such as inflation, healthcare, and national security are at the forefront of the campaign. The polls suggest a tight race, particularly in the seven swing states: Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona.
Civil rights groups have also been active, suing Georgia to extend the voter registration deadline due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, highlighting ongoing voter rights issues.
The financial aspect of the campaign has been significant, with Kamala Harris’ political operation raising $361 million in August, nearly tripling Donald Trump’s haul. This financial edge has enabled Harris to fund a substantial advertising blitz.
