Electors Allowed to Use Alternative IDs for Voting, Erode District Instructs Voters
Voters in Erode District can use alternative identification documents for voting, as instructed by the Erode District Election Officer and Collector Raja Gopal Sunkara. The decision allows voters who do not have their Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to present one of the 12 listed documents for identification at polling booths.
The documents permitted include Aadhaar card, job card from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), passbooks with photos issued by banks or post offices, health insurance smart card under Labour Ministry schemes, driver’s license, PAN card, smart card from the Registrar General of India, passport, pension document with a photo, service ID cards with photos for Central and State government employees, official ID cards for MPs and MLAs, and UDID cards for persons with disabilities.
Voters have been advised to carry their voter information slips and present any of the listed documents for identification at the polling booths as per the Erode District Election Officer’s instructions.
