Ellen Pompeo Honored with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ellen Pompeo, the star of “Grey's Anatomy,” received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, April 29, joined by her family.
The actress was surrounded by her husband, Chris Ivery, and two of their three children: daughter Stella, 15, and son Eli, 8. During the ceremony, Pompeo posed happily between her kids, who were dressed to impress.
Stella wore a black-and-white polka dot dress with white heels, complementing her look with a white clutch. Eli looked sharp in a navy suit and white T-shirt. Ivery supported his wife in grey dress pants and a matching vest.
Pompeo mentioned her youngest daughter Sienna, 10, who was not present, jokingly urging photographers to say her name: “Everybody say Sienna because she’s not here!”
In her acceptance speech, Pompeo thanked her family, stating, “This doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t happen easily. It takes a village. I love you Stella. I love you Eli.” She also praised “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes for helping her balance her career with motherhood.
“Shonda allowed me to have a career, and get paid and be a mother,” Pompeo noted, acknowledging the importance of this balance in her industry.
Earlier this month, during an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Pompeo shared insights about her family’s relationship with her long-running show. She revealed that Ivery has never watched “Grey’s Anatomy.” Pompeo explained that her children are at an age where classmates are beginning to watch it, leading Stella to ask if she could as well.
Despite allowing Stella to view some episodes, Pompeo has kept Sienna from seeing the series. “I don’t want my daughter to see me in my underwear on television just yet,” she said with a laugh, highlighting the challenging decisions parents face.
Pompeo’s acceptance of her star represents a significant milestone in her career as she continues to be celebrated for her role as Meredith Grey.
The ceremony took place April 29, 2025, with fans and family gathering to honor Pompeo’s years in television.
