Emergency Declared in New Jersey Ahead of Nor’easter

TRENTON, New Jersey — Acting Governor Tahesha Way declared a State of Emergency for New Jersey effective at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025. This declaration is a proactive measure in anticipation of a dangerous nor’easter expected to impact the state starting Sunday, October 12, and continuing into Monday, October 13.
The forecast indicates parts of New Jersey may experience moderate to major coastal flooding. Inland areas are also at risk of flash flooding, with sustained winds potentially reaching 60 mph, localized rain amounts up to five inches, and very high surf that could result in significant beach erosion and dune breaching.
<p“Starting on Sunday, a dangerous coastal storm will begin to move past our state with extreme weather conditions for several counties, especially those on the Shore,” said Acting Governor Way. “In preparation for this storm, I am issuing a State of Emergency for all 21 counties to ensure our emergency services personnel can respond as needed.”
The emergency order, known as Executive Order No. 399, remains in effect until the situation is assessed as safe once more. The governor emphasized the importance of safety, urging New Jerseyans to monitor local weather reports, stay informed on evacuation protocols, and limit travel unless necessary.
Residents by the Shore are advised to be aware of evacuation routes in preparation for any potential emergencies. For updates, residents can visit the state’s emergency management websites.
As New Jersey braces for the storm, officials are executed plans to activate necessary emergency services.
