49ers Explore Trade Options After Bosa’s Season-Ending Injury

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers are actively searching for a defensive edge rusher after losing star player Nick Bosa to a torn ACL. The injury has left the team in need of reinforcements as they prepare for their next game against the 4-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
General Manager John Lynch confirmed during an interview on KNBR 680-AM that he is engaged in “a lot of good and productive” talks regarding trade opportunities. “It is a premium position, so teams don’t like just letting those guys out the door when they’re good football players,” Lynch stated.
Since Bosa was injured, the 49ers’ pass rush has struggled effectively, recording only five sacks in five games—tied for the lowest in the league. The defense will need to step up, especially against the Buccaneers’ quarterback, Baker Mayfield, who has been performing well this season.
As of now, the 49ers have high hopes for Bryce Huff, who joined the team in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this season, but they are actively scouting the market for additional talent. Lynch mentioned that while they can’t replace Bosa, they are seeking a player that can enhance the overall defensive group.
Potential trade targets include players like Troy Hendrickson from the Cincinnati Bengals and Kingsley Enagbare from the Green Bay Packers. Lynch noted the challenge of finding the right player while managing the complexities of trade negotiations.
The team has shown resilience, sitting at 4-1 despite injury challenges on both sides of the football. Lynch expressed pride in the team’s effort but acknowledged the need to bolster their defense as they strive for Super Bowl contention this season.
As the NFL trade deadline approaches on November 4, Lynch and the 49ers must act quickly to solidify their roster for the remainder of the campaign.
